Henna For Hair- The Wonders.

After I started doing henna on my hair- I got one of my best friends hooked on it too. This was the first time I did her hair with henna (the second time her hair got a bit darker and looked even better!) So, since I've got a blog post on henna- I won't go into too much detail. One thing I do have to explain here is that I mixed it differently. The other post I have up I had used a recipe that called for more things. This time- I just used yogurt. Yup- plain ol' unflavored yogurt and henna I purchased at a local Indian foods store. The outcome was fantastic!

First let me say, I mixed the yogurt with the henna until I got a thick consistency (like cake batter) and let it sit- completely covered since it cannot dry on you for any reason- for 24 hours before applying. Then, I applied it all over making sure you cover the hair entirely, not lightly. Do not be stingy- you want every hair covered and soaked. After, I wrapped her head in saran wrap and a shower cap over to make sure it didn't dry and so that the heat from her head helped the henna out too. After 3 1/2 hours- I had her rinse it out with conditioner only.

Her hair looked amazing. The henna covered any greys she had and gave her the nicest red hue ever. Also, thanks to the henna/yogurt mix- her hair was completely moisturized and had the healthiest, most gorgeous shine to it. Can you tell? If you notice the tips of her hair in the very first picture and the color of it in the last one- you will see the color difference. The second time she got a darker color and it was even prettier as mentioned above. I, too, need to do my henna again since my hair has grown out so much but haven't had the time. Hopefully I don't forget to take pics to post it up. =-) Till next time!

  1. ever since I tried henna from Lush I haven't colored my hair with anything else... i love it, the simplicity, the outcome, my healthy hair... love it... also Lush henna blocks contain 6 pieces for about $20 a block... i need only 1 piece to cover my head (very short hair), it is extremely cost efficient :)

    1. It's a very heathly approach for hair color/treatment. Look into as much as possible before you do. If you decide on doing it you will love it!

  5. I never tried henna for the hair but I read is more natural and doesn't damage so much the hair.
