After I started doing henna on my hair- I got one of my best friends hooked on it too. This was the first time I did her hair with henna (the second time her hair got a bit darker and looked even better!) So, since I've got a blog post on henna- I won't go into too much detail. One thing I do have to explain here is that I mixed it differently. The other post I have up I had used a recipe that called for more things. This time- I just used yogurt. Yup- plain ol' unflavored yogurt and henna I purchased at a local Indian foods store. The outcome was fantastic!
First let me say, I mixed the yogurt with the henna until I got a thick consistency (like cake batter) and let it sit- completely covered since it cannot dry on you for any reason- for 24 hours before applying. Then, I applied it all over making sure you cover the hair entirely, not lightly. Do not be stingy- you want every hair covered and soaked. After, I wrapped her head in saran wrap and a shower cap over to make sure it didn't dry and so that the heat from her head helped the henna out too. After 3 1/2 hours- I had her rinse it out with conditioner only.
ever since I tried henna from Lush I haven't colored my hair with anything else... i love it, the simplicity, the outcome, my healthy hair... love it... also Lush henna blocks contain 6 pieces for about $20 a block... i need only 1 piece to cover my head (very short hair), it is extremely cost efficient :)
ReplyDeleteHenna is just awesome! Glad to hear you use it too. I've heard nothing but good things about the Lush one also. :-)
DeleteI've actually never heard about this. I've been wanting to do something new with my hair, I shall consider this.
ReplyDeleteThank you!

It's a very heathly approach for hair color/treatment. Look into as much as possible before you do. If you decide on doing it you will love it!
Deletethe result looks amazing! though i've never used henna in my hair, since it stucks so deep in the hair, and i like to change my hair too often for that haha!/Azure
ReplyDeleteI was afraid of trying it for that very reason. But I ended up loving it! :-)
DeleteHi girlie.. I just awarded you with a blog award... http://beautymakeupaddict.blogspot.ca/2012/03/blogger-appreciation-award.html
ReplyDeleteOmg! Thank you! :-)
DeleteI never tried henna for the hair but I read is more natural and doesn't damage so much the hair.
ReplyDeleteIt won't damage it, in fact it will help it a lot! :-) I'm in love with it! Lol
